The Gateway of India, Mumbai, a majestic monument situated in South Mumbai, was built in 1924 to commemorate the arrival of George V, Emperor of India and Mary of Teck, Empress consort, in India.
In the grounds of the gateway, opposite the monument, stands the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maratha warrior-hero. Also lies on the opposite to this monument, the grand Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Hotel Taj Mahal Tower. The consortium of these pieces of architecture together makes South Mumbai worth a visit for every traveller and tourist. One should especially not miss out the experience of exploring the streets of South Bombay on cycles!
Its a pleasure in itself to pass by all the amazing shops and cafes at a leisurely pace on your bicyles!
We then ride through Fashion Street, one of Mumbai’s best cloth market which offers latest trends, a variety of clothes and the delicious aroma of street food. One of the favorite shopping hubs for the people of Mumbai, especially students, the place offers some of the trendiest and latest fashion clothes at jaw-dropping bargains. Located near CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus), it offers an array of more than 180 shops that sell a humongous variety of accessories and clothes.
As we move back towards western suburbs, we stop by at Haji Ali Mosque to give our viewers a glimpse. We also took a clip of the iconic Siddhivinayak Temple – probably the most famous Lord Ganesha temple in India. These places are among the spots frequented by the who’s and who of Bollywood.
After an entire day of bicycle ride on our mountain bikes, covering a distance of more than 80 kilometers, we reach our home!
