BECOMING A COSMETOLOGIST APPRENTICE

Search for a salon/shop that will sponsor (hire) you as an apprentice.
Once you have located a sponsor, contact the Gateway Apprenticeship Department or the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) Office for a Cosmetology apprenticeship application form.
Fill out the application with your sponsoring salon/shop.
Meet the Notary Republic requirements and mail completed form to the BAS with the $10 fee or drop off at the Apprenticeship office.
Contact the BAS and meet with a representative with your new sponsor.
You can start working at your sponsoring salon/shop upon the receipt of your Cosmetology Apprenticeship Permit.
Contact Gateway Apprenticeship Department if you have not received registration information two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. (Classes begin in August, September, October, January, February, and March.)
