The Cosmetology Instructor Program is a 1 semester course offered to cosmetologists, aestheticians, and manicurists holding current Tennessee licenses. Enrollees will train with our licensed instructors, learning the teaching skills necessary to become Tennessee licensed aesthetics instructors, manicurist instructors, or cosmetology instructors. Program lessons include:
• Lesson plan writing and curriculum building
• Organized recordkeeping
• Understanding and explaining state laws and regulations
• Effective teaching methods in both classroom and laboratory settings
• Conducting practical demonstrations
• Classroom management
Trainees will shadow instructors, and will teach, under supervision, in aesthetics, manicuring, or cosmetology classes. Here, instructors will observe, evaluate and critique.
As a licensed instructor, one may teach in public, private, vocational, industrial, or technical schools. Teaching, however, is not the only option for course graduates. Licensed instructors also may enjoy increased credibility outside academics as:
• Make-up artists
• Platform artists
• Industry representatives
• Educational consultants
• Or Cosmetology school owners
