Shanghai Fashion Week is the most influential fashion platform in China, supporting the best talents in the industry, from highly successful commercial brands to emerging designers in China and all over the world. However, this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 A/W Shanghai Fashion Week could not take place in its usual way.
To help niche designers and local fashion brands survive in this critical period, the organizers of Shanghai Fashion Week decided to give the annual event a digital makeover and rebranded it as Cloud Fashion Week. This is the very first fashion week that has been held completely online.
However, Cloud Fashion Week has polarized opinion: for those who support it, they see it as bigger platform for designers to present their latest collections. But for the purists, they see livestreams as merely a means to push products rather than presenting ideas.
Whatever the case, the door to the fashion digital age has been fully opened.
