He further adds, “With great joy, we return to open the Lakme Fashion Week, where we will be showcasing our collection of draped evening lehengas and occasion-wear with a serious fashion twist as opposed to a bridal bent. Vibrant colours, incredible embroideries, the reintroduction of Kutch craft, new silhouettes in salwar kameez and a light cool breezy intimate way of showing will be screened through this special film that has been commissioned for the occasion in a beautiful India modern bungalow recently designed and built in Delhi. A new way of life, a new way of thinking, a new comfort for Indian fashion!”
The collection is an amalgamation of various elements that is inspired by different crafts & techniques and architecture in the country. The Bidri collection is inspired by the intricate art form of delicate bidri technique which means inlay of silver thread with Aari & Zardozi embroidery in Resham border. Inspiration of the Temple Mauli collection comes from the auspicious and ritualistic look of Badrinath temple which is expressed in multicoloured fabrics like organza, silk and more with combination of different motif design. Hand embroidery done in delicate, colourful kantha stitches and mirror work on a printed ikat base is the core of the Sootra collection. Taking inspiration from the mughal architecture/haweli the Molten Haweli collection has prints that are beautifully hand highlighted with intricacy. Handwoven fabric called Pattu in alluring geometric patterns from Kutch artisans in Kutch Kantha that is enhanced with kantha stitch with sequins and mirror work and colorful thread embroidery makes for a holistic collection to keep the festive season alive.
The collection consists of lehengas, anarkalis, concept saris, salwar kameez, choli, cape, skirts, dresses, pant sets, coats & jackets for men and more in fabrics such as organza, silk brocade, crushed chanderi, tulle and raw silk that is suitable for every occasion. Interesting silhouettes have been explored to bring in the modernity in traditional crafts.
