When supermodel Adriana Lima announced in 2018 that she was retiring from Victoria’s Secret, fans were shocked. While she appeared to leave on good terms, many suspected something else was going on behind the scenes. Here’s why Lima really hung up her wings for good.<\/p>\n
Lima’s departure from Victoria’s Secret was made even more surprising by the fact that she had previously said she wouldn’t stop until she had walked in at least 20 shows. A then-36-year-old Lima told People in 2017,<\/p>\n
“I plan to be at 20 [shows]. Two more years. Maybe more, I don’t know. It’s nature. I’m working out, I’m being healthy, so let’s see how the body is going to turn out. But I enjoy it. So let’s say 20.”<\/p>\n
Lima revealed that she loved hitting the runway, saying it made her actually feel, quote, “like an angel.” She added, <\/p>\n
“I feel very emotional to be part of it, in a good way. After so many years and to have a chance to see Victoria’s Secret go and have their fashion show internationally, it’s really an honor for me to be part of it.”<\/p>\n
In spite of the good vibes, Lima walked away just a year later \u2014 looking as fit as ever \u2014 and leading to speculation about her true motives.<\/p>\n
