The British are coming, the British are coming and THEY DELIVERED! London has been a hub of fashion creativity for decades at this point from Alexander McQueen & John Galliano to Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, & of course the LEGEND Vivienne Westwood, there is talent up the wazoo! But a = group of young designers have cropped up in the place of the big brands, like Burberry, McQueen, Westwood & more to show that fashion in the UK is far from dead. We started by discussing Harris Reed, the designer known for dressing Harry Styles while still being in university at Central Saint Martins! Then came Molly Goddard, the queen of tulle! While the past couple of seasons have been a time of transition for Goddard, which I was often confused by, this season made me really sit up and shut up! The collection sold me on the use of tulle as everyday wear, and proved that Goddard refused to be a one trick pony! Then the Duchess of British Fashion, Simone Rocha, delivered a collection that only added another string to her bow. Revolving around winter roses, Rocha took moto styles & fabric flowers and made us see how adaptable she really could make textiles. And in reality, it was the perfect collection to lead up to her highly anticipated collaboration with H&M! We then had to talk about Chopova Lowena, the beloved upcycling brand that has dressed many a star! The brand is quirky and strange and kind of weird, but it’s also beloved, and is expanding it’s styles yet keeping it’s aesthetic, which I have to say I respect! Finally, we are graced with menswear favorite Daniel W. Fletcher’s debut womenswear collection. The Netflix “Next in Fashion” star has finally take his delicate tailoring and brought it to a whole new clientele, which he seemed to be doing before hand, but now it’s just official.
