Combination, oily, and problematic (acne) skin types are typically affected by sebaceous filaments in the T-zone. This is because plugs made up of dead cells, sebum, and follicular matter typically clog pores in the forehead, nose, and chin areas of these skin types. These impactions are white-yellow in color and often confused with blackheads as they have similar characteristics. Pore-clogging (comedogenic) cosmetics, exfoliation-neglect, and uncontrolled levels of oil output are common contributors to sebaceous filament formation. Once present, the facial treatment’s extraction step is the esthetician’s quickest way to rid skin of these unwanted clogs. Traditional extraction methods in esthetics include fingertip, cotton swab, and extractor (comedo/comedone) tools. In this skin treatment demonstration, we use ultrasonic oscillation to extract clogs, clear pores, and improve texture for a facial client with oily skin
