What is Oncology Esthetics?

Lani Williams is a registered nurse, a licensed esthetician and has a specialty certification in oncology esthetics. In this interview with Our Ventura TV host, George Alger, Williams describes oncology esthetics and its benefits.

Oncology is the study and treatment of cancer. Esthetics has to do with beauty and in regards to this topic, refers to health and beauty of skin. Williams describes oncology esthetics as a way to help cancer patients look better and feel better.

Cancer treatments can lead to a variety of skin related side effects. Oncology esthetics can provide relief through the easing of symptoms and skin reactions, by improving skin and overall health and by restoring a sense of well-being. Complimentary cancer therapies such as esthetics are not always incorporated into standard patient care in most doctor’s offices, hospital or cancer centres. Oncology esthetics can help to complete the circle of care that is provided to cancer patients.

William states that oncology esthetics helps patients cope better with physical and emotional changes that occur as a result of cancer treatment.
