(15 Feb 2012) SHANTANU AND NIKHIL LAUNCH WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK
Shantanu and Nikhil kicked off the 19th season of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi on Wednesday (15th February 2012).
The celebrated duo presented their Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection, showcasing a range of luxurious dresses and drapes in their signature style.
Known for their fusion designs, the collection mixed Indian aesthetics with contemporary Western sensibility, and included garments with metallic and monochromatic tones, as well as rich textures.
Indian vintage colours also featured heavily, and cuts were classically feminine, glamorous and flowing silhouettes.
The designer brothers launched their label in 2000, primarily catering to a stylish and contemporary Indian market.
They have also designed clothes for Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Sonam Kapoor.
“Women today want to wear clothes that they can feel comfortable in,” explained creator Nikhil Mehra.
“They feel special obviously, but not out of the box. So we wanted to do clothes which are glamorous and yet they can wear in the evenings to any event.”
Bollywood actors Dia Mirza and Sameera Reddy were in the front row, and joined the designers for the final bow.
A signature event of the Fashion Design Council of India, New Delhi fashion week attracts the biggest names in the fashion business.
138 designers from across the country are showcasing their collections for domestic and international buyers, media and the fashion industry.
