Cosmetology Program Mecosta Osceola Career Center

The Cosmetology course is a three-year commitment for those students pursuing the required 1,500 hours of instruction for their State of Michigan Cosmetology license. Students enroll as a junior in high school and must return after high school graduation to complete the 1,500-hour requirement. First & second year Students concentrate on theory and practice hands-on skills utilizing mannequins and each other. Third-year Students may be required to fill out an application to continue their studies in theory and practical work, as well as, operate the Touch of Class Salon where students experience real-life salon situations. Students completing the program may apply to take the Michigan Cosmetology Exam and upon passing the test, they will be licensed as a cosmetologist.
