Manipulating for extractions on the nose and ears can be done using fingernails if the esthetician has them. Filament around the nose and blackheads and whiteheads arise on the ears as well.

In this video a scalpel and finger nails are used to remove plugs in these areas. It does present a problem if one is a nail biter or is in the USA where tools are mandatory.
